Cuttack won the Inter-District Women`s Cricket Tournament, beating Dhenkanal by two wickets in the final at Ravenshaw University Ground, Cuttack today. Cuttack captain Madhusmita Behera starred in the win, bagging four wickets and scoring 39 runs. Earlier in the semifinals, Cuttack thrashed Jajpur by nine wickets, while Dhenkanal prevailed over Balasore by eight wickets.
The champion and runner-up teams received cash prizes of Rs 15,000 and Rs 10,000 respectively. Ravenshaw University Registrar Smarapriya Mishra handed over the prizes at the closing ceremony. Orissa Cricket Association secretary Asirbad Behera and other office-bearers were present on the occasion.
Brief score (Final): Dhenkanal 98/10 in 38 overs (Kadambini Mahakud 33; Madhusmita Behera 4/19, Lipika Das 3/11) lost to Cuttack 99/8 in 40.1 overs (Madhusmita Behera 39; Kalyani Nayak 3/26, Tikilata Pradhan 2/23).
